Lady Elliot Island a small coral cay (key) locates on the most southern of the Great Barrier Reef. An airstrip for the small jet barely fits into the island.

lady elliot snorkeling jj.JPG (61654 bytes) The three days life there was simple. After buffet breakfast, we did snorkeling in the lagoon among colorful coral swimming with hundreds of tropical fishes in the crystal clear water. We tried to take a ride with turtles. Once they were back in the water, however, we could never catch up with this slow creature on land . When low tide, we could take a tour walking into the lagoon and learned the formation of coral.lady elliot lagoon m.JPG (83347 bytes) Henry and I caught a small reef shark during the low tide. We freed it eventually.

It was both green and loggerhead turtles lay eggs and hatching season when we were there. When the night came, we hiked around the island under the moonlight to find turtles.

Guest numbers are limited on the island, but no limit for birds. Over populated birds even nest along the road site.

The life there is so simple, and I wish it would just last forever like that.
